The state of the current real estate market, the economy, and 2024, from a home and commercial building inspectors perspective. The consequences of starting a new inspection company Black Cat Inspection Services, LLC, many have expressed concern about. What do the numbers say?
We began a new inspection business January 1st of 2024 and many have expressed concern about that, especially in our current strange market and contentious election year. The major difference in those expressing concern, and me, is that I am starting my sixth decade in businesses, involving strange real estate and construction markets, and have ultimately survived them all. I simply refuse to get as excited and cautious as most. I prefer full steam ahead.
I will simply explain my opinions with numbers.
Our business, inspection volume, January 2023 to 2024 has increased by 100%. Yes, I don’t stutter, DOUBLED.
Our business, inspection revenue, has increased January 2024 over January 2023 by 37%.
How is that for staring a new year and a new company?
Why the difference? Simple, last January we did more larger homes and commercial. This year we did more smaller homes. Either way it’s all good. I project a stellar 2024 for our new Black Cat Inspection Services, LLC and it's growing number of inspectors and expanding territory. Isn’t it amazing what can happen when you give ownership of your company to your bride and your cat?
Be aware, depending on availability, the home, and fee, that we now conduct home inspections throughout North Carolina. We are adding inspectors across North Carolina to be better able to handle that.
For commercial, and multifamily inspections, depending on, availability, fee, travel and lodging expense, we now conduct inspections in every US State and Territory. One of my former business partners used to say "To build a taller building all you need is to add a crane." I say to expand across America all you need is an airplane, Uber or a rental and a hotel room. We are good to go. Expand across the globe? Add a passport. Working on that!
